A Quick Horse Racing System Based on Easy Percentages

There is no substitute for good in depth handicapping if you want to make money betting on horse races, but if you want a quick and easy system to determine a horse’s chances of winning or running in the money, this will help you to win more.  First of all, horse’s like humans, are creatures of habit.  If you want to know what they’ll do tomorrow?  Look at what they did yesterday.

If a horse ran in the money 50% of the time in 30 races, what do you think the chances are of it paying to show today?  Did you guess 50%?  if so, go to the head of the class.  I know it’s not quite that easy, though, because if it was, all you’d have to do is find horses who have a fifty percent chance of showing and bet on them when their show price is over $4.

While it isn’t quite that easy, it also isn’t rocket science to figure out when a horse will run true to form and win, place, or show, the same percentage as it has in the past.  You have to tie that percentage in with a few other simple handicapping factors.  First of all, as horse’s age, unlike fine red wines, they don’t get better.  After a certain age it is usually a downhill slide for horses, just as it is for all athletes.

The way to find a horse’s percentages is to divide its wins, places, shows, into it’s total races.  Naturally, if the horse is running on grass today, we want to use only its turf races.  The same is true for all weather tracks, etc.

Here is a simple system to use in the money percentages to find good value in the betting pools…

1. First, let’s say that after 5 years old, we start to expect a horse to start to decline.  Therefore, look for horses who are no older than 5 or 6 and you will probably be able to rely on their stats.

2. Another consideration is recency.  Look for horses who have had at least one race in the last 35 days.  If it has had two or more races in the last 40 days, that’s even better.

3. If the horse is running on an off track, look at its off track stats and use them.

As I mentioned earlier, use the percentages to find value.  The way you do that is to determine the probability of a horse winning, placing, or showing and then see what it will pay in each position just before they go to post.  That is how you find good value in your bets and it only takes a few minutes to determine percentages for each race.  That’s it, quick and easy horse racing system to find profitable bets.

Why Are People Talking About War Horse? – EzineMark

Puppetry in plays and musicals has usually been met with a negative reaction as they often look to kid-like and amateur for the big West End stages. In recent years though, this has not necessarily been the case with the huge success of the comedy musical Avenue Q along with many others. War Horse on the other hand is a little different as the puppets have been used beautifully to tell an incredibly sad and heart warming story, which has brought with it incredible critical acclaim. The show is even being brought to the big screen with Hollywood director Stephen Speilberg at the helm.

The story is set at the outbreak of World War One where a young soldier’s beloved horse is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France. The young soldier is soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary odyssey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man’s land. The story goes on to follow the soldier’s journey in finding his faithful horse and bringing him back home. The War Horse show is built around the horses who are brought to life by life-size puppets that move around beautifully to convey the real movement of the horses as well as the emotion of the piece. These life-sized puppets by the internationally renowned Handspring Puppet Company lead us on a gripping journey through history.

This touching story of War Horse has been adapted for the stage by acclaimed children’s writer Michael Morpurgo, from the original book by Nick Stafford, and the stage show has been a huge sell out success at the National Theatre. This incredible success has meant that the production transfers to the New London Theatre giving you an even better chance of getting your hands on War Horse tickets. But since Stephen Speilberg announced that he will be bringing the story to the big screen, the popularity of the show has further increased, with people flocking to see the original production before the film.

Thankfully, London Theatre Store offer War Horse tickets at fantastically low prices, with many theatre ticket deals and dinner theatre deals to be had. Find out more about all of the incredible War Horse ticket offers available from London Theatre Store now.

Where To Buy Horse Wormers – EzineMark

If you have horses, then you know how important it is to make sure that you have horse wormers.  These will stop your horses from retaining worms and can actually save the life of the animal.  When you are looking for a horse wormer, you are better off to go to a site online that will sell you vet supplies.  Even those vet supplies that are hard to get, such as those for Equestrian animals are easy to obtain online.

You need to take care of your horse or horses by using horse wormers for the animals.  A good horse wormer is one that a vet will usually prescribe for the horse, however, you can get them cheaper if you shop at an online venue than if you purchase them from the vet.  When you want to get products for any animals that you care for, then the best place to go is to an online vendor that sells these items as a specialty.

It is important to follow the directions on the horse wormers.  You want to be sure that you get a good horse wormer that will work well on your horse. By purchasing a horse wormer online, you not only get a better price, but a better selection of products.  Instead of just having one choice, which is usually the one that is recommended by the vet, you have more than one choice when it comes to horse wormers.  You can then make your choice based upon the products that are available as well as how easy they are to use and how well they work.  When you are looking after your horse, you want to make sure that you have the right products in which to do so.

A horse is often a working animal but is also used for riding as well as racing.  There are many reasons why people own horses.  They are a costly investment as well, which is yet another reason for you to look after them.  You are going to want to do everything possible to look after your horse or horses that are in your care.

Basic tips for becoming great horse rider – EzineMark

August 11, 2015 By Leave a Comment

Horses are one of the loveliest animals.  They are very mighty and energetic, but also graceful.  At first it might seem that riding horse doesn’t ask much, but it’s useful to know that riding is complex as any other sport.  It requires solid physical state and stimulates all formations of muscles on your physics.  On other hand, this activeness gives you bigger inner strength– the certainty that you are competent to be charge of such a potent animal gives you exceptional feeling of happiness and authority and later – the feeling of tranquillity.

Still, riding is not a thing that may be learned momentary; you need to learn principally how to beat the horse’s inner curiosity in order to stay authoritative.  This may not be understood just by apperceiving the theory but few fundamental tips may make the procedure much simple, same as the horse games.

Primary, fundamental step is to have exact position.  The rider must sit with a tall straight back.  Heels should be constantly down.  This makes you safer and protects your foot from being entangled in the stirrup.  You should stay abreast the horse, only being near the reins and expecting every of his acts.  The reins should be hold in both hands – among the little finger and the ring finger and out the top among the thumb and index finger with a loose fit.

To influence the horse to move onward, the rider needs to hold his legs against the horse’s sides and lower the reins.  Whistling or clicking could also help once in a while.

Riding also requests turning.  To make a horse turn right, for example, you have to pull back on the right rein and lower the hold on the left.  Thing that also works is to put give strength on the horse’s right side with the right leg, while bringing the left leg back.  Invert these signals if you like to turn left.

To stop the horse stop, press his seat down.  You have to lean onward, while you’re pulling back smoothly on the reins.

Trot is a element that every horse rider would appreciate to know.  For this you have to sit upright.  Shoulders need to be back, head up and eyes onward.  Hold the reins firm and leave proportionately space so horse may position his head. Start walking, then hold your leg from the thigh down, releasing the strength and loosening the reins.

Cantering means faster gait than trotting.  When the horse is in a constant trot, bring his outside left leg back, squeezing hard on his side.  Sitting deep into the saddle, and bringing the seat onward, while also putting some strength on the inside rein have to signal to the horse that it’s time to canter.

If you ride for the first time, maybe you have to get a teacher, to avoid learning all the positions improperly.

Horse Training – Who's the Leader, You Or Your Horse?

August 10, 2015 By Leave a Comment

There is one thing that is absolutely required before you can successfully relate to or train a horse: leadership. As soon as any horse becomes aware of you they will assign you a status: predator, herd mate or no importance at all, like the pet rock of the ’70’s. As herd animals, horses are hard-wired to identify the power structure whenever they are in the company of another horse or human.

In the absence of proof to the contrary, the horse’s default opinion will be that you are a predator, and any big moves on your part will kick in nature’s fight-or-flight response. In the case of horses, unless they are confined, their choice will be to run. The other extreme is the horse who has effectively trained their owner to get out of their way to protect sore toes, to offer cookies whenever their participation is requested, and can communicate very clearly when a saddle or bridle comes out; “No.” Horses become bullies for the same reason children do; there is an absence of appropriate leadership.

Leaders must understand their followers. Horse owners must know how horses think, why they do what they do, and be able to prepare lesson plans that make sense to their horse. For a horse-human relationship to succeed, there must be an established leader. Rarely will relationships work if the horse is in control. There are exceptions, but don’t count on it with the pony out in your pasture.

Leaders must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with their followers. Communication with a horse begins with body language. Over time you can add verbal commands, but in early stages, body language is your only option. Horses learn from the release of pressure. The pressure can be physical or psychic, the pull of a neck rope, or anxiety from your intimidating physical position.

There are only two reasons why your horse doesn’t do what you want – they are either unable or unwilling. As the leader you must determine which is the case and establish the circumstances to make the horse able or make them willing. The folks who tell you how stupid horses are have just confessed that the horse in question got the best of them. Horses are much better people trainers than people are horse trainers.

Everything you ever learned about leadership can be useful when training your horse. You just need to learn how to communicate with the horse. As in every case, effective communication includes being a great listener. All great leaders and great trainers are clear, consistent and fair. Every lesson must offer your horse some benefit.

Leaders and horse trainers learn to use correction to help their followers improve, they do not use punishment that de-motivates or instills fear. There is great responsibility attached to being the leader of a horse-human relationship. Always give the horse the benefit of your doubt. We haven’t yet reached the height of what is possible for the horse-human partnership. However, every successful partnership begins at the beginning, and proceeds with little, orderly steps taken as fast or slow as the horse can master them.

There is no more accurate barometer of your leadership ability as a horse. Horses are direct – they do not dissemble, they “say” what they mean. Horses don’t care what you look like, who your daddy is, or how much money you make. One of the delights of relationship with a horse is that they judge you 100% on your actions. Once you learn to properly lead a horse into confident relationship, you will have mastered skills that will help you succeed in every part of your life.

Don’t make promises to your horse that you can’t keep. Love the process. Building a relationship with your horse is a gift that many only dream of, watching with awe and amazement as a horse and rider appear to move as one body and one spirit on the movie screen or in the show pen. If it was easy everyone could do it. It’s not. But the reward of your horse’s obedience and devotion is more than worth it.

Horse riding for beginners – EzineMark

August 9, 2015 By Leave a Comment

Horses are one of the most admirable animals.  They are very athletic and wild, but also cultivated simultaneously.  It could seem that riding horse does not need much, but it’s fine to know that riding is difficult as any other sport.  It requires great physical shape and moves all categories of muscles on your torso.  On other hand, this action gives you better self assurance– the truth that you are able to command such a strong animal gives you unique feeling of excitement and predominance and after – the feeling of peace.

Anyhow, riding is not a thing that could be learned suddenly; you need to learn in the beginning how to hinder the horse’s inner curiosity in order to stay superior.  This couldn’t be comprehended just by knowledge the theory but few elementary tips could make the practice much accessible, as same as the horse games.

First elementary step is to take suitable position.  The rider must sit with a tall straight back.  Heels should be all the time down.  This makes you more protected and prevents your foot from being captured in the stirrup.  You should stay abreast the horse, only kipping close the reins and assuming every of his movement.  The reins should be hold in both hands – in the middle of the little finger and the ring finger and out the top, in the middle of the thumb and index finger with a loose fit.

To convince the horse to go ahead, the rider needs to pressure his legs against the horse’s sides and loosen the reins.  Whistling or clicking could also help every now and then.

Riding also necessitates turning.  To make a horse turn right, for example, you need to pull back on the right rein and loosen the hold on the left.  Thing that works along is to put tension on the horse’s right side with the right leg, while bringing the left leg back.  Revert these signals if you like to turn left.

To stop the horse, press his seat down.  You need to lean ahead, while you’re pulling back lightly on the reins.

Trot is a something that every horse rider would love to know.  For this you need to sit upright.  Shoulders need to be back, head up and eyes ahead.  Hold the reins steady and leave adequately space so horse could turn his head. Start walking, then pressure your leg from the thigh down, releasing the tension and loosening the reins.

Cantering means faster gait than trotting.  When the horse is in a stable trot, bring his outside left leg back, squeezing hard on his side.  Sitting deep into the saddle and bringing the seat ahead, while putting some tension on the inside rein need to signal to the horse that it’s time to canter.

If you ride for the first time, apparently you need to get a coach, to avoid learning all the positions wrongly.

A First Time Trip to the Race Track – the Easy Way – Horse – EzineMark

August 9, 2015 By Leave a Comment

Horse racing is a lot of fun. For a two dollar minimum wager you have a stake in the outcome of the race and can cheer wildly as your horse is ridden to the finish line. But if you are going to the track for the first time, the amount of new information presented to you can be overwhelming.

At most thoroughbred race tracks you can buy a track program, but you will find out quickly that there is limited information in the program. A race horse has its past performance information is a newspaper publication called a racing form. In this paper, there is listed several of the horse’s most recent races. The information is given in reverse chronological order from the most recent race first. But the symbols have to be understood and learning these symbols can be like learning a foreign language. It can take several hours to learn this and even once you can read the information, it then must be interpreted.  There are many ways to interpret the data that is presented.

It isn’t strictly necessary to study and learn for hour after hour in order to bet on live horses. All you need do is buy a program and use the information contained inside. Most programs at the track are shaped like a pamphlet; being tall and narrow. They easily slide into the back pocket of a pair of jeans.

Each race of the day is contained on one page with the number of the horse, the name of the horse, and on the far right side, the name of the jockey riding the animal along with the morning line odds. These odds are important to making a selection. These odds are created by the track handicapper and are his opinion of what the final odds of each horse will be when betting is closed at the start of the race. They are not the odds of the horse winning, but the odds the track handicapper believes the betting public will make the horse.

In fields of eight or less, the winning horse will be among the three lowest odds horses eighty percent of the time. In fields of nine or more, it will be the four lowest odds horses. Circle these odds and focus on betting them. Take a peek at them in the paddock and post parade to see which one looks best.

US Horse of the year result announced tonight – Rachel Alexandra …

August 9, 2015 By Leave a Comment

US Horse of the year result @ Horse Racing Betting:  The results of the most highly anticipated Horse of the Year vote ever taken will be announced tonight at the Eclipse Awards banquet at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. Will the winner be Rachel Alexandra or Zenyatta?

Each horse won every one of her races in 2009 – eight for Rachel Alexandra including five Grade 1 events and three against male opponents and five for Zenyatta including four Grade 1 events and the Breeders’ Cup Classic against males.

horse racing betting

There were 232 ballots returned for the Eclipse Awards, the yearly honors for 10 divisions of thoroughbreds, one of steeplechasers and five of humans. Voters are either members of the National Turf Writers Association, employees of the Daily Racing Form or representatives of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, which includes horse betting track racing secretaries and workers at its statistical arm Equibase.

Comparing the merits of racing’s two superstars isn’t easy, and not because they didn’t race against each other.

Rachel Alexandra dominated races restricted to 3-year-old fillies in 2009, setting margin-of-victory records in both the Kentucky Oaks (20 1/4 lengths) and the Mother Goose Stakes (19 1/4 lengths).

Zenyatta’s body of work as a 5-year-old mare in 2009 wasn’t quite as impressive, because she didn’t race outside of the synthetic tracks in California and her four victories before the Breeders’ Cup Classic came against the same fillies and mares she always beats. She also enjoyed at least four weeks between each start.

The Eclipse champions are determined through voting by NTWA members, Daily Racing Form employees, NTRA-member designates and Equibase personnel, who vote for the top three in each category. Winners are based solely on first-place votes, with second- and third-place votes used to determine finalists. The exception is the Horse of the Year race. In a rule change this year, voters chose just one horse.
